Therapies

The main therapies I am trained in and utilize are:

I am an Accredited Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. EMDR therapy is a trauma therapy to resolve past trauma and current triggers in people’s lives. It is considered one of the most efficient trauma therapies currently being used. EMDR has long been used to treat people with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression, but has been shown to have benefits for all people. I am a member of the EMDRAA Institute https://emdraa.org/.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is helpful for anyone experiencing emotional dysregulation.   This is a cognitive behaviour therapy that provides practical skills to manage emotional dysregulation, increase your capacity to tolerate distress and be able to communicate more effectively with others. DBT utilises mindfulness to increase self-awareness, creating more choices and allowing you to feel more in control.

I am also clinically trained in other evidence-based behavioural therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy.

Fees

Fees for service vary depending on whether you have a 50-minute session or an 80-minute session.  A long session is often used for EMDR.

Fees do not apply if you have been referred by Open Arms, Victim Support Service ACT, or Converge EAP.

The current rate for a 50-minute session is $180.

Additional services such as support letters or reports are charged at the respective hourly rate (with a minimum one-hour fee).

A referral from your General Practitioner (GP)  is required to access Medicare rebates for focused psychological sessions. Medicare rebates are provided under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

A mental health treatment plan is completed by your GP and provides access to Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual sessions per person, per calendar year. These sessions can be conducted face-to-face or via video consult. As of 1/7/24 Medicare provides a rebate of $85.20 per standard consultation with an Accredited Mental Health Social worker.

Private Health Funds may offer a rebate for focused psychological therapy with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. Clients are encouraged to check their coverage with their nominated health fund.
